About this event

Why do we trust those that deceive us?

Tricksters have always challenged the rules, outwitted expectations, and revealed truths in unexpected ways. In our last Curiosity Collective program of the year, join a folklorist for a look at tricksters and deception in Norse mythology and J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings , exploring why these characters have captivated storytellers for centuries and what their mischief can teach us.

Then, see deception take center stage with a live magician who will use illusion and misdirection to challenge what you think you see. Together, folklore and magic invite us to consider a playful question: What can we learn from those who deceive?

About Curiosity Collective :

Every other month, we gather in venues across Denver for a live, guided exploration of a big question.

You’ll hear from two speakers offering different perspectives: one grounded in research or systems, the other through story, sound, or lived experience. There’s no debate and no pressure to participate, just space to listen, reflect, and follow the ideas where they lead.

Come curious. Leave with something new to think about.
