For years, The Colorado Health Foundation’s At the Heart of the Matter event series has invited Colorado’s health equity community to look beneath the surface of our most urgent challenges, ask harder questions, and imagine what becomes possible when people build power together.

On Monday, November 16, that invitation becomes a special in-person gathering at Mission Ballroom, and a defining moment in the Foundation’s story.

At the Heart of the Matter: Purpose, Power, & Possibilities will bring together grantees, partners, and changemakers from across Colorado for an evening of art, performance, reflection, and community voice.

The evening will feature Sarah Jones , the Tony and Obie Award-winning playwright, performer, artist, and activist known as a “one-woman global village.” It will also mark Karen McNeil-Miller’s final event as President and CEO of the Foundation before she retires at the end of 2026.

Together, Karen and Sarah will guide a powerful reflection on courage, care, restoration, and imagination, and what it will take to carry this work forward.

This will be a night to gather with the people who understand the work, honor what has been built, and feel the energy of what is still possible.
