ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • More than 24 hours after a massive fire broke out at a Denver apartment construction site, firefighters are fighting the blaze while investigators search for its cause, and neighbors said they are grateful that their homes were spared.  Denver7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Three local businesses will receive support from the Broncos Business Boost Program, which awards ($5,000 in gift cards, flight vouchers, and an ad package) while featuring their logos on the stadium scoreboard ahead of the Broncos vs. Chargers game on Sunday. The program aims to boost local entrepreneurship.  Denver7

  • Colorado photographers captured striking images of 2026's first Wolf Moon last night and shared samples on the Discover Colorado | Through Your Photos Facebook page. The post highlights local talent including Suzanne Kelley and Silas Goldstein.  Denver7
  • Aurora’s E-470 team created clever messages on its variable messaging signs to keep drivers safe while adding a touch of humor. The team shared fun puns—like a Halloween message that was quickly removed after causing confusion—along the tollway on Dec. 18, 2025.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal judge (appointed by Biden) issued an injunction blocking a Colorado law that would have required retailers to display yellow health warning labels on gas stoves. Experts remain divided on whether the devices cause health risks.  Colorado Public Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • Since October, nearly 2,500 Coloradans were hospitalized with the flu as holiday gatherings spurred record numbers, including 791 cases during Christmas week. Doctors say the new strain lasts longer and strains hospital staffing, yet the vaccine still reduces illness severity+ prevents many hospital admissions.  Denver7

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Colorado Avalanche rallied with four unanswered goals to beat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3 on Saturday in Raleigh, N.C. Brock Nelson scored two power-play goals, and the win extended the team’s winning streak to 13 games.  Sentinel Colorado
  • The Brooklyn Nets broke their three game losing streak with a 127 to 115 win on Sunday, Jan. 4 in New York as Michael Porter Jr. scored 27 in his first game against his former team, while the Nuggets—missing Nikola Jokic—dropped their Eastern trip record to 1 to 4 as Aaron Gordon returned from injury.  Sentinel Colorado
  • After losing key players to injuries, Denver Nuggets ended their game against Cleveland with point guard Jamal Murray as the only healthy starter. Murray scored 34 points and played 39 minutes, leaving coach David Adelman to manage his team’s limited roster.  Sentinel Colorado
