- ➤ Denver mom Brittany Persichitte, who overcame addiction, homelessness, and incarceration, now works at Women’s Bean Project (Athmar Park) to help local women build stable lives with job training and support services; the nonprofit has supported approximately 2,000 women in gaining independence through self-work, education, and financial literacy. - ➤ Lower the Barrier Colorado is seeking community support to expand its Pathway2Progress (housing and training) program that offers affordable housing and job training to adults facing instability. Program director Jeff Legins said residents pay reduced rent while receiving training for construction roles to build a stable future. Denver7

- ➤ The National Western Stock Show kicks off today, marking its 120th anniversary at The Legacy (a modern tribute to the original stockyards). President and CEO Wes Allison said the new building will host saloons and art galleries showcasing farming and ranching history for all visitors. Denver7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Colorado governor Gov. Polis declared Jan. 7 Tony Kovaleski Day to honor the longtime Denver7 investigator's service in broadcast TV. The proclamation came at a station celebration where Tony was surprised with tough questions ahead of his retirement. Denver7
- ➤ The U.S. EPA rejected Colorado’s clean air plan yesterday, saying the state did not need to shut coal-fired power plants to meet federal haze standards; a final decision will be issued within two weeks and state officials must develop a new plan for protecting air quality. Colorado Public Radio
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ At the DMAR 2026 Economic Summit, experts reviewed November 2025 data showing closed homes fell 23% with 2,734 sales and market time rose to 36 days. Inventory rose slightly while median prices stayed near *$585,000* and rising insurance costs may cause future shifts. Denver7
