  • Local pet rescues are honoring Broncos fever by naming dogs after quarterback Bo Nix. FRGSR+Colorado Puppy Rescue feature special pups as community fans rally ahead of Saturday's game against the Bills at Empower Field at Mile High.  Denver7

  • Scissorhand Design Studio in Northglenn is celebrating its 10th anniversary as owner Tejay Mora uses his artistic background to create custom designs + team logos that boost locals’ confidence while the family-run shop supports the community with free and back-to-school cuts.  Denver7
  • Vail Resorts reported a 20% drop in skier and snowboarder visits at its resorts compared to last season due to one of the worst early season snows in over 30 years. The low snowfall limited terrain opening and hurt ski school and food vendor revenue, the company said on Thursday.  Denver7
  • Xcel Energy aimed to restore power by Friday night for about 9,000 customers after a planned public safety shutdown on Friday morning in Larimer and Weld counties; business owner Jason Gaona of a Laporte coffee shop said he used generators and urged long-term grid fixes (targeted undergrounding under review).  Denver7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Aurora History Museum is seeking community ideas for its new exhibit on local Black history at a roundtable (Jan. 21, 6 p.m.) and through an online survey open until spring. The exhibit will be on view from July 14 to Nov. 7.  Colorado Public Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Future Cowboy, an environmentally focused fashion show at the National Western Stock Show, is set for Jan. 25. Organized by Colorado State University and featuring professional designers and students, it will spotlight how reusing cattle hides can reduce landfill waste & lower greenhouse gas emissions.  Denver7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State lawmakers have proposed a ballot measure to raise the TABOR cap by roughly $4.5 billion to boost funding for K-12 schools. The measure—backed by education groups—is slated for a legislative vote before it potentially appears on the November ballot.  Colorado Public Radio
  • RTD officials have prepared contingency plans for downtown service disruptions as demonstrators gather at the Capitol from noon to 3 p.m. amid the Bills vs. Broncos playoff rematch at Empower Field and other events today.  Denver7
