ECONOMY NEWS

  • Businesses in metro Denver are facing lower revenues this winter as snowfall falls short at 13.4 inches (normal is 27 inches), leading to reduced demand for car washes and snow removal that has forced providers to cut back operations and offer extra discounts.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Xcel Energy in Boulder advises customers to prepare for potential power shutoffs as forecast fire weather threatens the region next week, and many residents are investing in backup power sources (generators and transfer switches) to avoid costly outages.  Denver7

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Xcel Energy announced on Sunday that no public safety power shutoff will occur as wildfire risk stays high, though wind–driven outages may still happen. The company will activate enhanced powerline safety settings across eastern Colorado over the next 48–72 hours.  Denver7

  • Denver Health is expanding school-based health centers in Denver Public Schools to help students manage rising mental health needs, with a new center planned for 2027-2028 (a tiered care model aims to address issues early).  Denver7
