BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce will host the 2026 State of Women in Business Luncheon on March 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Seawell Ballroom at Denver Center for Performing Arts. The event addresses workforce exit of women in 2025 — driven by burnout and caregiving demands.  Denver7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Denver Public Schools board (voted 6-1) extended contracts with Kaiser, UnitedHealthcare and Motiv Healthcare through the 2026-27 school year, giving thousands of educators time to plan while the district will reopen the bidding process next fall.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cherry Creek School Board announced it is paying former Superintendent Chris Smith $163,927.87 (unused sick leave and vacation time) after his resignation in late January and his final day on Jan. 30; the board will hold a special meeting Tuesday to address additional personnel matters.  Denver7
  • Residents in East Colfax discovered East 14th Avenue turned two-way Wednesday without warning, causing confusion as DOTI’s quick rollout with cones took effect. City officials said the safety measure is working, with permanent signage now in place (and all-way stops coming soon) to slow speeding.  Denver7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Keaton Herzer, a Denver man with rare bile duct cancer, is gaining attention on TikTok after Cigna initially denied coverage for his life-saving liver transplant; following an appeal, his treatment request was approved + he credits online support for bolstering his fight.  Denver7
  • Matthew Ferraccio turned to the Problem Gambling Coalition of Colorado (PGCC) after hitting rock bottom and marked one and a half years of recovery. PGCC reported increased calls for help since sports betting was legalized and now hosts tailgating events to promote responsible play.  Denver7

SPORTS NEWS

  • Freeskier Alex Ferreira added a gold medal to his Olympic collection last Friday at Livigno Snow Park after a close contest against riders from Estonia + Canada. He celebrated his win and said he would enjoy a beer while his family cheered.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Arapahoe Basin received about 4 inches of fresh snow on Friday that improved ski conditions and pushed several resorts past 100 inches—opening roughly 15% more terrain while the resort supported staff with free dinners and shuttles.  Denver7
