COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Food Bank of the Rockies opened its new 270,000 sqft distribution center in Aurora on Feb. 5 to boost food storage and speed up deliveries. The upgraded facility now has 67% more space and extra staging, helping partner organizations better serve locals facing food insecurity (supporting community needs).  Sentinel Colorado

CULTURE NEWS

  • History Colorado is touring an exhibition about The Dry, a Black homesteading community founded in the early 20th century. It is on display at Creede Underground Mining Museum until mid-May and at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts until Jan. 2027, featuring photos and stories from the Craig family.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Screen printer Stuart Alden of Ink Lounge designed a limited-edition poster for the 303 Day concert on Tuesday, March 3 at Number 38 in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood — the artwork highlights local favorites Cheap Perfume, Bruha and Graveyard Choir, and posters will be sold at the event, which has free admission and food available for purchase.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State agencies approved $45 million to help fund the Arkansas Valley Conduit—a $1.3 billion pipeline that will deliver clean water from near Pueblo to Lamar (including the Rocky Ford area) and will continue as construction progresses.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Thornton's Fire Chief Steve Kelley said a recent grass fire forced temporary evacuations while the city uses the state-run IPAWS alert system and is set to switch to a new Motorola-based Rave system early March (to improve emergency communications).  Denver7
