COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Denver7 honored Marsha Hennessy, an 85-year-old volunteer who has dedicated nearly 4,000 hours over 17 years to the Botanic Gardens, for her hard work in greenhouses and public events. Her dependable efforts continue to inspire community involvement.  Denver7
  • Denver Book Society opened this month in West City Park inside the former Humboldt Kitchen (now hosting a small café) and is set to be a third space for community events. Co-owners Kwame Spearman and Rich Garvin plan to host events and foster collaboration while addressing naming concerns with a local book swap group.  Denver7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rabbi Avraham Mintz of Chabad of South Metro Denver said today that Purim offers a way to celebrate miracles amid Middle East tensions (echoing memories of ancient struggles). Local celebrations begin today as community members find hope in age-old traditions during challenging times.  Denver7
  • On Sunday, Ball Arena hosted AANHPI heritage night despite a Nuggets loss, where Filipino artist Mike Fogg showcased his handcrafted 3D model of Denver on a basketball backboard (displayed in Nuggets colors) that reflects his journey from the Philippines to local life.  Denver7
  • Denver Pride has announced changes for its 2026 celebration as the festival moves from Civic Center Park to 16th Street for a one-day event on June 28 with updated parade and 5K routes, while monthlong cultural activations expand community access (the 5K starts on June 27 at Cheesman Park).  Denver7

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Parks and Wildlife reported that lone gray wolves traveled further east in February — reaching watersheds along the southern Front Range from Douglas to Huerfano near I-25, southwest of Pueblo. The agency noted these individual wolves are roaming alone and looking for mates.  Colorado Public Radio
