- ➤ Aurora is marking America’s 250th birthday and Colorado’s 150th with yearlong celebrations including museum exhibits and public art starting this week. - ➤ An annual report from the U.S. Department of Commerce shows that outdoor recreation grew 2.7% in 2024, with Colorado ranking 10th in economic output at $18.1 billion. Conor Hall said local trails, rivers + parks support jobs and businesses across the state. Colorado Public Radio
- ➤ Rising fuel costs from an ongoing Middle East war are squeezing Denver rideshare drivers as gas prices climbed 54 cents a gallon since last week—prompting some to switch to a local driver-owned service that retains 80% of earnings. - ➤ Fort Carson soldier Sgt. Benjamin Pennington (26) died Sunday after being wounded in a March 1 retaliatory attack on US troops at Prince Sultan Air Base. The Pentagon honored his service with a posthumous promotion and noted he was the seventh casualty in the Iran conflict. Denver7
- ➤ Thornton City Council is weighing a Stage 1 Drought Response today to cut water use by 10% and limit turf watering before May 1 as dry winter conditions and low snowpack raise concerns about water supplies for the near future. Denver7
