ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Seven people were displaced Friday afternoon in Aurora after a fast-moving fire on the 16000 block of East Asbury Avenue spread from one home to a neighboring home; firefighters controlled the blaze in about 20 minutes after receiving calls at 3:30 p.m., and no injuries were reported.  Sentinel Colorado

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Denver Book Society cut ties today with Kwame Spearman, who previously ran the Tattered Cover & faced community backlash over his past immigration remarks; owner Rich Garvin said the change aligns with the store’s mission as proceeds from select books will support the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition.  Denver7

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Colorado state parks face red flag warnings today due to warm temperatures, dry conditions and high winds that led to fire bans. Park officials are working with first responders — installing sensors and educating visitors — to help keep everyone safe.  Denver7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Water negotiators resumed talks on March 2 to set up a short-term water release deal that calls for 500,000 acre feet to flow from Flaming Gorge and a 1.25 million acre feet cut in lower basin use, as current guidelines are set to expire this fall. Officials are using Nevada's proposal as a starting point.  Colorado Public Radio
