  • In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, parents and local groups provide a warm line pilot to help families access food, clothing and childcare. The Colorado Department of Human Services will host a resource fair at the Denver Zoo on Saturday, Apr. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (free entry for the first thousand visitors).  Denver7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Vail Resorts said its North America visits fell 15 percent this winter amid record low snowfall, with Rocky Mountain resorts down 25 percent, which led to earlier closures and lower Epic Pass sales. The company is offering discounts for young skiers and will update on pass performance in June.  Colorado Public Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • Isan Thai Food Truck will serve special dishes like pork belly stir fry and mango sticky rice dessert starting Sunday, April 26 — part of the fourth annual Mile High Asian Food Week. Nearly 60 local AAPI eateries will offer unique menus to connect with new customers.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Ricardo Lafore has spent nearly 30 years supporting veterans at Mile Hi Veterans (on Federal Boulevard) in Denver and is now producing a documentary to honor their service for the nation's 250th birthday and Colorado's 150th. He will feature longtime friend and Vietnam veteran Ernie Torres in the film.  Denver7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Colorado’s free Universal Preschool Program, which began three years ago, now serves 87,000 children and saves families about $6,300 per child each school year, according to state education officials and Gov. Jared Polis.  Sentinel Colorado

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senate Bill 142 passed the Senate Transportation and Energy Committee hearing on Wednesday at the Capitol to ease geothermal regulations (by releasing orphan well data and requiring utilities to propose new projects). Supporters say the bill will boost carbon-free energy and help Colorado reach its renewable energy goal.  Colorado Public Radio
