  • Lyons residents say local art and music drive the town's resilient spirit amid challenges like limited lodging and steep prices. Local leaders and business owners highlighted ongoing efforts, including plans for a boutique hotel, to keep tourism dollars in town (and preserve its small-town charm) along North St. Vrain Creek.  Denver7
  • Civic Center EATS returns on Wednesday, May 13 with over 50 food trucks gathered in front of the Denver City and County building on Bannock Street amid construction; the event will offer diverse dining options and live youth performances on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Denver7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Staff at the Suncor refinery in Commerce City restarted operations Monday afternoon after a power outage caused increased smoke and flaring, though air monitoring did not show any harmful levels and no public action is needed.  Denver7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Broomfield High School, teacher Stephen Kelly launched MagicSchool chatbot tutors that guide students to explain their AI-assisted homework instead of simply copying answers (assignments had been too advanced for some to explain).  Sentinel Colorado

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Jared Polis said Friday that Colorado’s opt-in to a federal tax-credit scholarship program funded by private donations did not break state anti-discrimination laws and offers $1,700 credits for donations toward private school tuition, tutoring, and after-school care. His remarks at the Denver Museum of Nature + Science drew around 150 community members.  Colorado Public Radio
