- ➤ On Tuesday early morning, a driver allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into a Villa Park home near the intersection of W. 10th and Perry, seriously injuring the driver and a passenger and causing minor injuries to several others while the city postponed planned safety improvements at the intersection until fall. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Denver Pavilions hosts the 'Bodies: The Science Within' exhibit where real bodies are plastinated — preserving natural details for an educational display. The exhibit, offered in English and Spanish, runs through June 28 with tickets at about $30 for adults and half-price for kids. Denver7

- ➤ Former Cherry Creek School Board member Terry Bates resigned on April 24 after he reportedly asked a Latino family if they 'used a coyote' when immigrating + the board received multiple complaints and Bates apologized for the comment. Denver7
- ➤ Colorado lawmakers passed several education bills this session. Highlights include a measure allowing schools to request temporary gun confiscations & a ballot initiative asking voters to allocate tax refunds to K-12 funding, while several proposals stalled over budget challenges. - ➤ Denver Parks officials say geese droppings have increased at Sloan’s Lake, prompting staff to spend (18 to 20) hours monthly cleaning trails. The thriving wildlife, drawn by park features attractive to people, has raised complaints and spurred enhanced maintenance. Colorado Public Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Since January, Colorado’s paid NICU leave policy has allowed parents to get up to 12 weeks of leave + 12 weeks of parental leave when their newborns spend time in intensive care, with nearly 800 families applying already. - ➤ Denver Water will start its tiered drought pricing on June 1, charging extra only for outdoor use & leaving indoor rates unchanged. May rain has kept outdoor watering low, which may lead to lower bills for customers. Denver7
