- ➤ Kathy Ash, a 26-year ovarian cancer survivor, has walked in every Jodi’s Race for Awareness and leads her team Kat’s Pride to support those impacted by gynecologic cancers. The 16th annual race will be held Saturday, June 14—bringing together survivors and supporters in a strong community effort to raise awareness. Denver7

- ➤ Commerce City police arrested a 43-year-old man late Monday night after a protection order call revealed he had allegedly held his ex-girlfriend captive and assaulted her for several days — officers pursued him after he fled his vehicle, and a K9 later tracked him down. Denver7
- ➤ A Colorado man named Mack Jamie Sprouse was indicted on 11 counts of securities fraud after he allegedly solicited about $4.8 million from over 80 investors for his house-flipping business Urban Veneer Holdings LLC by promising repayment with collateral that did not exist. Denver7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Polis said Colorado will delay complying with an ICE subpoena that seeks personal data on 35 sponsors of unaccompanied immigrant minors until at least June 23—lawyers argue that releasing the information would break state law. - ➤ The Colorado Department of Transportation reported that inattentive driving crashes dropped 19% to 1,161 in the first five months of 2025 and traffic deaths fell 11% after a new law banning handheld mobile use went into effect on January 1; first-time violators now face a $75 fine + two license suspension points. - ➤ Denver has paid over $18M in settlements for lawsuits from the 2020 protests, including a $135,000 payout to community organizer Brian Loma who said police hit him with pepper balls while he filmed a peaceful protest—Councilwoman Shontel Lewis said the payments come as the city faces a $250M budget shortfall and seeks better community policing. - ➤ A Colorado Supreme Court ruling in a 4—3 decision reversed lower court approval of the Sullivans’ petition for grandparent visitation after a 2020 murder-suicide left three children parentless and later adopted by the Nicolases.
