  • Denver7 Chief Investigator Tony Kovaleski will retire later this year after a 42-year career that included 20 years at Denver7—his final day on air will come before the end of 2025. He plans to spend more time with his family and mentor colleagues as he steps away from investigative reporting.  Denver7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Colorado Safeway workers went on strike on Sunday after contract talks with Albertsons failed, and six stores including one in Denver stopped operations as the union demands better staffing, wages, and benefits. Negotiations resumed Tuesday and continue today, but there is no set end date for the strike — more stores may join if a deal is not reached.  Colorado Public Radio

CRIME NEWS

  • Aurora police said that on Monday night a man in a parked car was shot by three or four unidentified men on East 16th Avenue between Akron and Alton streets+ he was taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Investigators collected shell casings at the scene and are looking for witnesses or security video to help solve the case.  Sentinel Colorado
  • Denver police arrested 34-year-old Deonte Minyard Monday for a weekend homicide in the Ballpark District — police said a fight turned deadly into a shooting on the 2200 block of Blake Street and he faces first-degree murder charges.  Denver7
  • Authorities in Bennett are investigating the theft of nearly 3,000 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles valued at over $1.4 million from a semi-truck when the driver discovered a break-in at Love’s Truck Stop on June 8 at around 8 a.m.—the truck was en route from Washington to Texas.  Denver7
  • Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain said on June 17 that armed gunmen threatened an apartment door in northwest Aurora where a Venezuelan family had just moved in — two suspects were arrested and seven remain at large as police coordinate with federal agencies.  Sentinel Colorado
  • The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said police found the body of an adult woman off I-25 near Larkspur north of Exit 173 Sunday morning—officials are asking anyone with dash camera footage from June 4 or 5 to contact Detective Talmon.  Denver7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Colorado Department of Transportation said Tuesday that crews nearly completed clearing the Loveland Pass landslide that buried US 6 under up to 20 feet of debris on Sunday morning. Workers removed 85% of the material but remain cautious due to an unstable slope — phase two will focus on slope assessment and final cleanup with no timeline for reopening set.  Denver7
