  • Protesters disrupted the main stage at Denver PrideFest on Saturday to mark the Stonewall anniversary, support trans and queer rights and express solidarity with Palestine. Organizer Z Williams led a march from Cheesman Park to the State Capitol—where community advocates joined the demonstration.  Denver7

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Thornton police officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries when a two-vehicle crash occurred Sunday at E. 104th Avenue and Washington Street while the officer was responding to a medical emergency—police said the other driver failed to yield, causing an hours-long road closure.  Denver7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • More than 38 Safeway stores on Colorado’s Front Range joined a strike after union negotiations with Albertsons stalled. Workers in Thornton and Fort Collins protested for better wages, staffing and benefits — and the company said it remains in talks while keeping stores open and hiring temporary workers.  Denver7

CRIME NEWS

  • Police in Aurora investigated two separate homicide cases on Sunday morning that left two men dead (one was found at 1535 N. Moline Street near E. Colfax Avenue and the other at an RTD bus stop on E. Colfax Avenue and Peoria Street) with no suspects identified.  Denver7
  • A Colorado State Patrol trooper and a highway worker were injured when a suspected DUI driver crashed into a patrol car providing traffic control on U.S. 36 near Pecos Street at 2 a.m. on Sunday—Bryan Granillo, 28 year old, fled the scene but was later caught after a second trooper intervened.  Denver7
  • On Sunday at about 1:45 a.m., police arrived at 1535 Moline St. in northwest Aurora and found a man with stab wounds who died at the scene—no suspect has been identified as officers ask for tips from the community.  Sentinel Colorado

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Colorado researchers from the Rocky Mountain Research Station and Colorado State University say anonymized cellphone GPS data used for targeted ads could show where people and wildlife, such as mountain lions, cross paths—helping guide future wildlife management and reduce unexpected encounters.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a June 23 Aurora city council meeting, protester MiDian Shofner and others repeatedly disrupted the session to protest the end of the public comment period set after protests over Kilyn Lewis’s death — the meeting ended almost two hours later. City lawmakers said the rule change was needed to curb ongoing disruptions while Shofner’s lawsuit alleging a First Amendment violation remains pending.  Sentinel Colorado
  • Sen. Mike Lee removed the federal land sales provision from the GOP spending and tax bill after strong pushback from hunters, fishermen, outdoor recreation users, and Colorado lawmakers—who argued the plan risked favoring luxury over affordable housing. The proposal had aimed to sell a small percentage of public lands near population centers for housing and infrastructure but lost support in both the Senate and the House.  Colorado Public Radio
