CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A man died after being shot around 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday in the Lowry neighborhood on N. Alton Way near the intersection of E. Lowry Boulevard and Yosemite Way, Denver Police said (no suspects are in custody) and the homicide investigation is ongoing. Denver7
- ➤ Aurora police are looking for Karen Matlock, an 84-year-old woman last seen Tuesday at 11 a.m. when she left her Aurora home to visit a bank in Denver in her white GMC Terrain — license plate DGR-C40 — wearing a turquoise T-shirt and faded gray jeans, and anyone with details is asked to call 911. - ➤ A Denver man, Taylor Warford 33, was convicted Wednesday for stalking his ex-wife and threatening to wipe out her and her child after she moved to Castle Rock to escape abuse—investigators said he put a tracker in her car and tried to get bomb making materials. Denver7

- ➤ Denver’s South Dahlia Lane neighborhood was nominated for the National Register of Historic Places due to its unique community design—originally built as affordable housing for university professors—and its nomination is under review with public comments accepted until July 15. Denver7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials in Nederland signed a letter of intent to buy Eldora from POWDR and plan to make its 700 current workers town employees. The purchase is expected to be finalized in October and could generate between $1 million and $2 million in annual sales tax revenue for local infrastructure—financed with municipal bonds and grants. - ➤ Governor Jared Polis signed a bill in June to increase emergency beds at juvenile detention centers from 22 to 39 after a 21% rise in detained youth. - ➤ The Colorado Bureau of Investigation hired an outside firm to review its lab operations and found that staff shortages have caused long delays in DNA testing, especially for sexual assault kits.
