  • Deputies from the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office responded late Saturday night to a house party on East Crestridge Circle and confirmed one fatal shooting—an investigation is ongoing with no suspect information available.  Denver7
  • Family and friends demand accountability after Vincent Chacon died in a Denver jail cell when his cellmate—Ricky Roybal-Smith—allegedly assaulted him around 2:15 a.m. on June 30; they argue the two men should never have been housed together.  Denver7
  • An Aurora woman called police late Friday when her daughter arrived home on Espana Way with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound from a dispute involving four people — the 24-year-old self-transported to a nearby hospital as officers later found a shooting scene by the intersection of East 17th Avenue and Biscay Street with no suspects described.  Sentinel Colorado

  • Today, Project Pave, a Denver based organization, trains youth to build healthy relationships and recognize teen dating violence. This summer the program will have students design workshops to learn about the cycle of violence and set boundaries—skills they can share in the community.  Denver7

  • Colorado Rep. Pettersen (7th District) said One Big Beautiful Bill hurt low-income families by cutting healthcare, SNAP, and Medicaid, and noted that the tax cuts mostly help wealthy people. She warned that the nearly 900-page law could force rural hospitals to close (83 percent of the tax benefits go to rich individuals) and leave communities at risk.  Colorado Public Radio
