  • Thirteen years after the Aurora theater shooting, community members gathered outside Aurora Municipal Center on Saturday to honor the 13 victims with a candlelight vigil—placing crosses with photos and displaying 70 paper cranes. Organizers said the event helped those affected remember the tragedy and strengthen community unity.  Denver7

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Police said an Audi sedan ran a red light in Aurora at 2:45 a.m., colliding with a Hyundai carrying a 37-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl who died on scene while the 18-year-old Audi driver—who is still hospitalized—and his 16-year-old passenger were injured as detectives work with prosecutors on potential charges.  Sentinel Colorado

CRIME NEWS

  • Aurora police arrived at about 1 a.m. after reports of shots fired at a party and found a man with gunshot wounds on a central street who later died at the hospital—damage was also done to at least two vehicles and one house and no one else was hurt.  Sentinel Colorado
  • Aurora police said a 12-year-old boy riding a scooter was struck and killed by a 19-year-old driver on Saturday morning as the boy crossed a marked crosswalk at E. Iliff Avenue near S. Wheel Park Circle—officials noted the driver was not paying attention at the signal.  Denver7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Retired Clear Creek High School teacher Clint Hedges is hiking 567 miles on the Colorado Trail to raise funds and awareness for youth mental health—he began this challenge after noticing students struggle during the COVID-19 pandemic. He launched a GoFundMe to support his plan to open a community coffee shop in Idaho Springs that will fund local outreach programs.  Denver7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Denver volunteer Don Marsh helped migrants at immigration court by handing out rights flyers and walking them to their cars before ICE agents took them into custody + he said volunteers nationwide joined in to support families during these stressful proceedings.
