ECONOMY NEWS

  • Travel spending in Colorado went up 0.3 percent to $28.5 billion in 2024, but the state lost ground as its share dropped from 2.1 percent in 2019 to 1.8 percent—hotel and short-term rental occupancy also fell. Visitor numbers increased by 2.3 percent, yet overnight spending dropped 0.4 percent and business travel declined 7 percent, showing slower growth amid rising national competition.  Colorado Public Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new report by Early Milestones Colorado shows missing data—like free or reduced-price meal status for 10,000 kindergartners and waived assessment data for 7% of students—hinders a clear view of kindergarten readiness. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • CDOT and the Colorado Transportation Investment Office began demolishing historic structures at Burnham Yard as part of a property cleanup before its future sale, which upset community members who value the site’s links to women and Black workers from the World War II era.
