- ➤ Aurora dentist James Craig was sentenced to life without parole on July 29th after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder for poisoning his wife, Angela Craig, by lacing her protein shakes with cyanide over a 10-day period in March 2023—jurors also found he attempted to cover up her death by fabricating evidence. - ➤ Denver police said that a man and a woman died in a shooting on Tuesday night near W. Colfax Avenue and Kalamath Street (at 8:39 p.m.) in what they suspect was a domestic-related murder-suicide (investigation is ongoing). Denver7
- ➤ Denver PD is asking for public help to identify a suspect linked to a fatal stabbing on July 13 near Civic Center Park on Broadway and Colfax Avenue—surveillance from an RTD bus shows a Black man aged 18-25 wearing a white hoodie, gray/tan jeans and white over black basketball shoes—and anyone with information is urged to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers. - ➤ On Wednesday, Denver officials announced they will invest over $100 million in 10 downtown projects to support small businesses, create housing, and improve public spaces—funds come from a $570 million source linked to Union Station's tax increment finance from 2008. The projects will upgrade retail spaces, convert historic offices to homes, and enhance parks to help bring people back downtown. Denver7
- ➤ Ambassador Christopher Hill, who served in five countries and was dean at the Josef Korbel School, said that changes in diplomacy have made relationships more like simple business deals. He warned that layoffs, tariff hikes, and cuts in aid lowered morale and may hurt U.S. efforts to secure lasting ties with allies—raising questions about the true cost of these reforms. - ➤ On July 29, RTD’s Board of Directors unanimously renamed Civic Center Station as the Wade Blank Civic Center Station to honor the late disability rights leader—activists had gathered to protest proposed changes to the Access-on-Demand paratransit program. - ➤ Today, the City of Littleton broke ground on Montview Flats, a new affordable housing project with 50 units for families earning 30 to 70 percent of the area’s median income.
