- ➤ Local police and federal agents said on August 18 that they arrested 30 suspects tied to the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang in a multi-agency investigation of illegal firearms sales, drug trafficking and human smuggling in the Denver area—officials vowed to remove the gang's influence from Colorado. - ➤ Aurora police said Tuesday morning a suspect stole a patrol car during a burglary when keys left in an officer’s pocket allowed the theft, sparking a chase that ended near East Alameda Avenue and South Buckley Road when an officer intentionally crashed into the fleeing vehicle—forcing the suspect to surrender as both he and the officer sustained minor injuries. - ➤ Colorado lawmakers will meet tomorrow in a special session to consider Senate Bill 25B-0010, which would pause the gray wolf reintroduction program and cut its budget by $264,268. - ➤ On Tuesday, Denver laid off 171 employees from DOTI as part of efforts to close a $200 million budget gap — the city also removed over 660 vacant positions.
