CRIME NEWS

  • A fatal crash occurred between a motorcyclist and a driver at E. 13th Ave. and N. Race Street Tuesday night — one person died at the scene as the Denver Police Department said investigators ruled out a hit and run.  Denver7
  • Aurora police are asking the public for help identifying two armed and dangerous suspects involved in a non-fatal shooting at Bristol Apartments on Aug. 15—both were seen walking on gravel near East Exposition Ave and South Buckley Rd at 2:30 p.m., with the man having blond hair and a goatee and the woman sporting pink hair.  Sentinel Colorado
  • Since July 15, five rabbits were injured by blow darts near East Glasgow Place and South White Crow Way in Aurora—one rabbit died and Animal Control officials are investigating with possible animal cruelty charges pending.  Sentinel Colorado

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A recent poll shows that many Colorado Latinos worry about money, immigration and health care. Fifty-three percent oppose state agencies sharing personal data with ICE and 61 percent oppose police sharing such data—raising fears that Medicaid cuts could delay needed care.  Colorado Public Radio
  • The Wheat Ridge Police Department is using an AI system — Draft One — to quickly create an initial report from body camera video while officers check for errors. The program costs $100,000 a year and some defense attorneys remain cautious about its use on the witness stand.  Denver7
  • Colorado lawmakers start a special session today to fix a $750 million budget gap caused by federal tax changes — they plan to cut spending, close tax loopholes, and adjust AI rules to help lower health insurance costs.  Colorado Public Radio

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The old Denver Dry Goods Company building will be fixed up to add 55 new apartments for people with lower incomes and update 51 current ones while taking out the office space in a $67 million plan by Jonathan Rose Companies—this plan will restore the brick outside and install energy-saving appliances, with leasing details coming by late summer.  Denver7
