BUSINESS NEWS

  • Colorado business leaders said tariffs are raising local prices and adding strain on companies like Ball, Crocs, VF, and Arrow—executives reported higher costs and warned that future earnings may show reduced profits. They noted that the extra charges have already nudged up costs for household goods and contributed to cautious spending among shoppers.  Colorado Public Radio

CRIME NEWS

  • Staunton State Park was closed on Tuesday after a park ranger reported being stabbed, but law enforcement later said the attack was an elaborate hoax—he is charged with felony tampering with evidence, attempt to influence a public servant, and additional offenses while he remains hospitalized pending jail transfer.  Colorado Public Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Colorado students showed gains on the CMAS tests with most reaching pre-pandemic levels, though many remain below grade level and large gaps persist between racial groups and English learners. Officials said future efforts will focus on targeted resources and deeper analysis to support students at risk — especially in math and science.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Aurora Public Schools improved their literacy and math scores in the recent CMAS tests but remained below pre-pandemic levels—Cherry Creek School District improved in math while its literacy scores stayed flat. Denver Public Schools and other districts reached near or above pre-pandemic levels in many subjects, though English learners still scored much lower.  Sentinel Colorado

FINANCE NEWS

  • Since recreational sales began in 2014, Colorado has collected over $3 billion in marijuana taxes that fund school construction, behavioral health programs, and local government services—sales have fallen from a peak in 2021 to record lows with prices dropping due to oversupply and increased black market competition. Sales from January to May 2025 are trending down compared to last year, highlighting a long-term downturn in the cannabis industry.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews broke ground on the West Jewell Avenue bike and pedestrian bridge in southwest Denver to ease connectivity as the city moves forward with plans for a new NWSL stadium. When completed in 2027, the bridge will let people reach Ruby Hill Park and local shops—improving safety—and connect neighborhoods.  Denver7
