ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Friday morning, a single-engine biplane nosedived into a field off Centennial Airport near South Peoria Street at 8:49 a.m.—SMFR said no one was injured despite wing damage and a small fuel leak that was fixed by 9:29 a.m.  Denver7
  • Family members identified four of the six victims killed in a dairy accident in Keenesburg on Wednesday—investigators said a worker entering an underground manure pit may have released toxic gas that killed a high school student and five others while final toxicology results are pending.  Denver7

CRIME NEWS

  • Denver police responded to a shooting near S. Dahlia Street and E. Warren Ave on Friday morning at 5:26 a.m.—close to the Carvana tower off Interstate 25—that left one person hospitalized in critical condition with no officers injured.  Denver7
  • Pa Reh was sentenced to life in prison for the 2022 murder of community activist Ma Kaing, who was fatally struck by a stray bullet near Hidden Brook Apartments in Aurora when multiple suspects fired in a park — the conviction follows a thorough investigation that involved several arrests.  Denver7

CULTURE NEWS

  • King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard ended their eleven-date tour with a three-day Field of Vision festival in Buena Vista where frontman Stu Mackenzie shared how the local scenery and strong community spirit fueled ideas for future shows—he also explained that the band left Spotify over concerns about its involvement with AI military drone technology. The group is now recording new electronic sounds and may plan a revised festival next year.  Colorado Public Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Jackson Lake State Park draws visitors with its broad, sandy swim beach and quiet campsites that offer easy access to boating and fishing—its reservoir supplies water to nearby farms and supports clear night skies for stargazing. The park, located about half an hour northwest of Fort Morgan, was certified by the International Dark Sky Association.  Denver7

  • Governor Jared Polis declared a disaster emergency in Pueblo after around 20 bodies were found behind a hidden door at Davis Mortuary—he called for Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter’s resignation amid an ongoing investigation and allocated $300,000 from the state emergency reserve for cleanup efforts.  Denver7
  • Colorado voters will decide in November on two ballot measures to fund free school meals through increased income taxes on high earners.   • Vail Resorts announced tentative opening dates for Colorado ski resorts for the upcoming season including Keystone Resort in mid-October, Breckenridge on November 7, Vail Mountain on November 14, Park City Mountain, Utah on November 21, and Beaver Creek on November 26.
