- ➤ AT&T said Tuesday that it will spend $23 billion to buy wireless spectrum licenses from EchoStar in over 400 markets — a move that will boost its low- and mid-band networks and allow EchoStar to operate as a hybrid mobile network under its Boost Mobile brand. The deal supports AT&T’s plans to expand 5G services and home internet and strengthens its network modernization efforts. Colorado Public Radio

- ➤ Denver Police Department issued an alert Monday for 67-year-old Narvia Careathers-Varney with dementia after she was last seen leaving the 5300 block of N. Ventura Street in Green Valley Ranch — she stands 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, uses a cane and has grey hair and brown eyes. Denver7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Denver's Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency office lost five staff and cut 22 vacancies due to city layoffs, but a spokesperson said no major programs will change. The city made broader cuts—169 employees and 666 positions were removed to help close a $200 million budget gap as they work on the 2026 budget. Denver7
- ➤ Aurora city council held a virtual meeting on Aug 25, 2025 to debate eliminating its Human Relations Commission amid claims the move was retribution—council members argued that saving money was not the true reason and postponed the vote until Sept. 22 when staff will propose changes. - ➤ South Metro Fire Rescue District is asking voters on the November ballot to approve a mill levy increase that will add about $50 million to its budget to cover a funding shortfall — as calls for service have risen 20 percent since 2019.
