ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Xcel Energy and three state agencies filed a proposal with state regulators to speed up wind, solar and battery storage projects so they can use expiring federal tax credits—regulators will review bids by early October and decide on the plan by February 2026. Colorado Public Radio
- ➤ Officials re-mapped the Lee Fire near Meeker and Rifle overnight, reducing its size slightly to 137,758 acres—now 90% contained and two acres smaller than the historic Hayman fire. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ In January 2023, Colorado lawmakers approved two tax credit bills that let the state treasury sell credits to help close a $750 million budget gap—one bill channels up to $100 million to the general fund while the other funds programs to lower health insurance premiums. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The FDA approved updated COVID vaccine guidelines on Wednesday that restrict shots to people 65 and older or those with certain conditions, and Colorado’s chief medical officer said state law allows officials to consider recommendations from other expert groups—advising residents to talk with their providers about what is best for them.
