BUSINESS NEWS

  • Evergreen Farmers Market runs every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Center for the Arts Evergreen, where local vendors say produce is picked when ripe to offer a fresher taste than supermarket options—reflecting a focus on quality amid rising prices.  Denver7

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Xcel Energy and three state agencies filed a proposal with state regulators to speed up wind, solar and battery storage projects so they can use expiring federal tax credits—regulators will review bids by early October and decide on the plan by February 2026.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Officials re-mapped the Lee Fire near Meeker and Rifle overnight, reducing its size slightly to 137,758 acres—now 90% contained and two acres smaller than the historic Hayman fire. Emergency funds have been approved as forecasters predict rain that may bring relief while also raising flash flooding risks.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • In January 2023, Colorado lawmakers approved two tax credit bills that let the state treasury sell credits to help close a $750 million budget gap—one bill channels up to $100 million to the general fund while the other funds programs to lower health insurance premiums. The bills then headed to Governor Jared Polis’ desk amid warnings that the move might postpone future revenue challenges.  Sentinel Colorado

HEALTH NEWS

  • The FDA approved updated COVID vaccine guidelines on Wednesday that restrict shots to people 65 and older or those with certain conditions, and Colorado’s chief medical officer said state law allows officials to consider recommendations from other expert groups—advising residents to talk with their providers about what is best for them. He also noted that West Nile has claimed four lives in Colorado this year.  Colorado Public Radio
