  • A food bank in Adams County is facing a shortage of supplies amid rising demand as 1,000 volunteers pack bins of snacks delivered to 10 schools each Friday. The food bank has placed 12 schools on a waitlist in response to federal cuts that reduced assistance programs — a sign of growing challenges for families.  Denver7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Family-owned bakery Et Voila on Lookout Mountain opened in April serving coffee and fresh croissants but now faces potential closure due to zoning complaints over trailers used as living quarters—county officials confirmed fines may start if no variance is granted. The owners are filing for additional extensions and seeking a public hearing to adjust the zoning rules and keep the business running.  Denver7

  • On Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., an Aurora officer fatally shot an unidentified man on East Sixth Avenue after a car crash turned into a physical altercation when the suspect refused to follow commands — the department is investigating the incident using bodycam, security, and witness footage.  Sentinel Colorado

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Laid-off federal aid workers gathered at the Posner Center in North Denver on Tuesday evening to share job tips, improve resumes, and learn how to handle AI screening tools for job applications—adding that the group now has over 300 members who are also lobbying for rent abatement, childcare, and healthcare support amid severe financial challenges. The Tuesday Group meets weekly to provide both emotional relief and practical job-hunting guidance as many face a difficult transition.  Colorado Public Radio

FINANCE NEWS

  • A King Soopers in Parker sold a Powerball ticket that made its owner a millionaire by winning $2 million on Saturday when five numbers plus the Powerplay were matched — winners in Denver and Colorado Springs earned $50,000 by matching four numbers plus the Powerball. The jackpot today is up to $1.1 billion, lottery officials said.  Denver7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Sunday, the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office towed 12 vehicles parked illegally on Guanella Pass to keep emergency routes clear+ officers also issued 50 tickets for related parking violations with fines of $87.50.  Denver7
  • CDOT is expanding its camera speed enforcement program this fall on Highway 119 in Boulder County as cameras now issue warnings and soon will send $75 automated speeding tickets to drivers going 10 MPH over the limit—fines that cover system costs. The program will expand in spring to include school zones and high-risk corridors—posting warning signs at each location for at least 30 days.  Colorado Public Radio
