- ➤ A driver—Steven Barr, 29—was arrested in north Denver on Monday after leaving the scene of a hit-and-run crash near 40th St. and Walnut that injured a bicyclist, and police said the cyclist was cited for failing to stop at a red light while being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. - ➤ Colorado offers a busy weekend of cultural events with First Friday art walks taking place today and additional live music, film screenings, and food-tasting events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday - providing local residents with many engaging experiences across the state. - ➤ Vinegar Syndrome Denver opened its new shop in the Casa Bonita shopping center on West Colfax Avenue—featuring horror-themed decor that takes visitors back to 1980s video stores—and offers restored cult films, laser discs and collectibles. - ➤ Denver city leaders pledged to plant 4,500 new trees this year to boost the urban canopy as part of a strategic effort to improve neighborhoods with low tree cover+ the city has already planted over 1,800 trees and will resume planting in September and October while inviting residents to share location suggestions via 311.
