ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On September 5, a small Beech BE35 plane returning to Centennial while practicing takeoffs crashed in a driveway between a warehouse and diesel generators in Greenwood Village—killing both onboard as firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.  Sentinel Colorado

CRIME NEWS

  • A 21-year-old Commerce City man allegedly shot a construction worker at E. 62nd Ave. and Broadway over a speed dispute and the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office filed charges of first-degree assault and menacing on Friday— the worker was treated at a hospital and later released.  Denver7
  • Matthew Curran, 30, is facing charges after he allegedly rammed his vehicle into his ex-girlfriend’s mother’s home in Westminster on Aug. 30—neighbors detained him until police arrived and he was taken to the hospital for evaluation, though no serious injuries were reported.  Denver7
  • An 82-year-old Thornton man with cognitive impairment named Johnny Crockom went missing after leaving home on Thursday with his white terrier dog and was last seen driving his 2021 Honda Accord near Commerce City at around 10:07 p.m.—authorities are asking anyone who may have seen him or his vehicle to call 911 or Thornton Police for help.  Denver7
  • Thousands of true crime fans gathered at Aurora’s Gaylord Rockies yesterday — where speakers discussed unsolved cases and support for victims’ rights — and today the conference continues with panels on advocacy and a talk by Ice-T on turning real crime into scripted drama.  Colorado Public Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • Denver Public Library revived its One Book One Denver program this fall by offering free copies of the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Stay True by Hua Hsu to help adult readers reconnect after a long break. The program will include creative events—such as writing workshops and zine sessions—at various branches to spark discussion and community engagement.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Denver businessman Kent Thiry, who helped Colorado vote for fair district maps in 2018, said he is troubled by changes in other states that favor partisan gerrymandering. He warned that future redistricting may become harder if states like Texas and California push for maps made for one party—putting Colorado's balanced system at risk.  Colorado Public Radio
