ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Police in Denver investigated a two-vehicle crash — that occurred Saturday night around 10 p.m. on Santa Fe Drive near the W. Evans Avenue exit — which claimed one driver’s life with no other injuries reported.  Denver7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A ticket sold at a Colorado Springs Maverik convenience store won its owner $1 million—after matching five numbers in Saturday's Powerball drawing. The nearly $1.8 billion jackpot went to winners in Missouri and Texas while players in Parker, Dinosaur, Brighton, Woodland Park, Fort Morgan and Aurora won prizes ranging from $50,000 to $100,000.  Denver7

CRIME NEWS

  • Colorado State Patrol released an aerial video on Friday showing motorcyclist Matthew Galek allegedly riding at 142 mph in a 65 mph construction zone on northbound I-25 between Larkspur and Castle Rock—troopers arrested him in Lone Tree on Thursday for speeding, reckless driving and not presenting insurance.  Denver7

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Parks and Wildlife held the Ridgway Reservoir Smallmouth Classic where 60 anglers caught nearly 5,000 invasive bass to protect native fish. The dead fish are stored in a dropbox and later processed—counted, measured, studied in Fort Collins, and then sent to the local landfill.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Dr. Dan West from the Colorado State Forest Service said fall colors will be strong on the Eastern Plains but may be muted on the Western Slope due to drought. He predicted that leaves will peak north of I-70 by Sept 20-21, in the central region at the end of September, and in Southern Colorado in early October — drivers should park with caution on Guanella Pass due to strict enforcement.  Colorado Public Radio

  • Joann Dawe has volunteered at Rose Medical Center in Denver for almost 25 years—continuing a family legacy that began with her grandmother and mother. She now works at the information desk and in human resources, ensuring patients feel welcome every day.  Denver7
