- ➤ The Douglas County School District board voted Tuesday night to require parent permission for middle and high school students to take the state youth health survey, replacing the opt-out system. - ➤ The free shuttle along 16th Street will resume full service on Oct. 5 after a pause of more than three years, RTD officials said. - ➤ Aurora police asked city council to allow unmanned cameras — and radar devices — to capture speeding violations because of a staffing shortage, and the ordinance was approved on its first reading. Jared Polis spoke at an event in Grand Junction on Sept 9—he addressed calls for a pardon for Tina Peters by stating that he would not trade the pardon power for federal favors and would only consider it on humanitarian grounds. - ➤ At a Wednesday community meeting in Aurora, Police Chief Todd Chamberlain said that use of force is sometimes inevitable because some individuals make poor choices and officers must often act quickly in tense situations — he noted that his department is modifying policies and training to help rebuild community trust.
