- ➤ Brighton's Riverdale Animal Shelter asked for help after taking in hundreds of animals from hoarding cases over the past three months, including more than 100 taken in on Wednesday from an animal cruelty investigation in unincorporated Adams County—raising its population to over 540 animals. - ➤ Two cyclists were hurt on Bear Creek Trail when sudden bridge closures left them without early warning signs—Denver Parks and Rec and DOTI said corrosion issues forced the closures and funding has been set to begin designing a replacement bridge in early 2026. Denver7

- ➤ Aurora hosts a busy weekend as a free Mini-Con event takes place today at Aurora Municipal Campus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. where pop culture fans enjoy trivia contests, live performances, and a costume contest—upcoming events include Hip-Hop Fest at The People’s Building tomorrow, a musical comedy at Vintage Theatre beginning Sept. 29, a Chicano art experience running through Oct. 24, and a Latin Jazz Fiesta starting Sept. 28. - ➤ At a Friday budget hearing, Denver's DOTI said it will cut 15% of its general fund budget—eliminating over 100 vacancies and reducing staff by 31—to help fix a $200 million shortfall.
