- ➤ Athena Ford, a teen from Aurora who uses a power wheelchair due to a rare condition, now enjoys a remodeled home with an accessible bedroom, living space, and bathroom—giving her more independence and safety at home. - ➤ Today, áyA Con is an Indigenous comic and art festival held at Truss House in RINO Art Park that shows a pow wow, comic book displays, native fashion and panels on Indigenous culture. - ➤ Aurora will host its annual Aurora Borealis Festival on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11 at High Prairie Park in Painted Prairie — the event will feature an immersive laser show that mimics the northern lights along with live music, interactive art, and food vendors celebrating local culture. - ➤ Residents in Northglenn demanded answers after a sewage backup flooded basements along Acoma Street early Monday, leaving over six inches of waste that damaged property and forced some to hire costly cleanup services. - ➤ On Sept. 30, 2025, the RTD board voted 10-5 to charge a $4.50 base fare for Access-on-Demand—a paratransit service used by riders with disabilities. The board made the change after months of discussion to help lower costs, and disability rights activists criticized the decision. Colorado Public Radio
- ➤ Colorado announced that starting November 3 its Vehicle Exchange Program will increase EV rebates from $6,000 to $9,000 for new vehicles and from $4,000 to $6,000 for used models — the program helps middle- and low-income residents meet eligibility requirements including income limits and owning a gas guzzler from 2013 or older. - ➤ The Department of Energy announced on Wednesday that it canceled over $608 million in funding for 34 clean-energy projects in Colorado, including a $326 million grant to Colorado State University to reduce methane emissions. Funding recipients have 30 days to appeal the terminations & legal challenges are expected due to concerns over political targeting. Colorado Public Radio
- ➤ U.S. Customs and Border Protection data showed that Denver recorded 1,673 immigrant arrivals per 100,000 residents between May 12, 2023 and January 18, 2025. Other metro areas like Miami and Salt Lake City and states such as Florida and Colorado also reported high per-capita numbers—highlighting a shift in immigrant settlement patterns over the period. - ➤ Federal climate and environmental agencies in Colorado are bracing for weeks of disruptions during a government shutdown—federal workers face furloughs and closures that may impact places like Maroon Bells and NOAA labs.
