CULTURE NEWS

  • A Zimbabwean chainsaw artist named Bongo Love has found his creative home along Highway 93 near the Flatirons where he carves bears, owls, and Bigfoot from reclaimed wood — he began working there after a Colorado Rockies shirt and a chainsaw competition sparked his interest. • Florence Crittenton High School is raising $100,000 to build a community garden after a federal grant was cut—pregnant and parenting teens and local residents will benefit from a hands-on space to learn about gardening and nutrition. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • More than a dozen Colorado cities—including Aurora, Arvada, Parker, and Thornton—are at risk of losing state funding if they do not update housing rules to allow denser development and auxiliary dwelling units. • One week into the government shutdown, travelers at Denver International Airport are facing flight delays as more air traffic controllers report sick calls nationwide. The FAA said that more than 13,000 controllers will work without pay under the DOT shutdown plan (which states flight spacing adjustments will keep safety high), and officials advise passengers to check flight updates closely.  Denver7
  • During oral argument on Tuesday morning, the Supreme Court questioned whether Colorado's law banning conversion therapy for minors burdens free speech by limiting licensed therapists.
