- ➤ Nonprofits have teamed up—using Airbnb.org, Durango’s Team Up and Mile High United Way’s 2-1-1 Help Center—to provide free emergency housing for families displaced by floods that damaged over 100 homes in La Plata and Archuleta counties. - ➤ Cherry Creek School District voters will choose two new board members in November after current members step down, and four candidates are running for the open seats in Districts D and E. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new study by CU Denver doctoral student Sarah Nalley and advisor Michael Moore finds that wildfires and rising temperatures make dark wing spots on dragonflies absorb extra heat—reducing their mating success and upsetting the food chain. Dragonflies help control mosquitoes and serve as prey for birds and fish, so their decline may lead to more pests and hungry wildlife. Colorado Public Radio
