CULTURE NEWS

  • Colorado’s film industry is growing with the filming of Love is Blind and a new tax credit program, but local filmmakers say state support is low compared to nearby states—lawmaker Brianna Titone plans a bill next year to help with production equipment costs. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Would-be backcountry adventurers in Colorado can now take a free one-hour online avalanche safety course from the American Institute for the Avalanche Research and Education, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, and the Northwest Avalanche Center—designed for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The course launches after a D1 avalanche occurred near Treasury Mountain on Oct. 25 following eight inches of new snow.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, over 600,000 Coloradans lost SNAP benefits due to a government shutdown despite a federal court ruling, leaving families to seek help at food pantries that extended hours to cope with the surge in demand — local food pantries now serve more families daily as recipients face uncertainty for the rest of November —  Denver7
