- ➤ After years of hard work and prayers, the Flight 629 Memorial Committee announced a site for a future Weld County memorial at the new fire station (Fire Station 6) at Barefoot Lakes Parkway and Ronald Reagan Blvd. The committee said donations are needed to help build a memorial honoring 44 victims, and the fire station will open in 2027. - ➤ Would-be backcountry adventurers in Colorado can now take a free one-hour online avalanche safety course from the American Institute for the Avalanche Research and Education, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, and the Northwest Avalanche Center—designed for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The course launches after a D1 avalanche occurred near Treasury Mountain on Oct. 25 following eight inches of new snow. Colorado Public Radio
