Good morning, Denver. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 6th of November.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Flour Shop — a small bakery in downtown Denver — makes creative cookies like lemon lavender and brown butter oatmeal chocolate chip, and owner Jennie Ngo bought out her partner and will now focus on deliveries from her storefront near Curtis Street and 24th Street. The business started with a simple idea and has grown to serve unique, homemade recipes that brighten local days.  Denver7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Union-backed candidates won many metro school board races in Colorado on Tuesday night—shifting control in districts like Denver and Mesa County while some conservative boards retained power. Voters chose candidates who promised to focus on public education and accountability and to reject outside money and extreme political stances.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Workers at University of Colorado campuses rallied earlier this week in Boulder, Denver, and Anschutz to demand collective bargaining rights and better labor protections for faculty, staff, and student employees (more than 40 people attended the Boulder demonstration on Tuesday). Organizers plan to rally today in Colorado Springs during the Board of Regents meeting to continue their push for union rights.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After voters passed the Vibrant Denver bond Tuesday, Park Hill Park will receive $70 million to fund its first phase of improvements. Although the park opened eight days ago and is already popular with dog walkers and runners, final enhancements—which include sports fields, a dog park and a field house—will be planned over the next 12 to 18 months.  Denver7
