EDUCATION NEWS

  • Since this spring, the Community College of Denver’s self-paced diploma program has helped 83 adult students earn diplomas in as few as five weeks — with more than 1,000 prospective students trying to join. • The Community College of Aurora received a $100K grant from the Aspen Institute Forum to expand programs that help youth ages 16 to 24 reconnect with school or job training. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Negotiators from seven states are working to meet a Tuesday deadline to tell the federal government if they have made progress on a plan to set new Colorado River guidelines—these rules cover drinking water, farming, and power generation. If no agreement is reached, the Interior Department may take control of river management and force tougher cuts for water users across the basin.  Colorado Public Radio

SPORTS NEWS

  • Colorado ski resorts have opened with six welcoming skiers over the weekend despite statewide snowpack being the second lowest since the 1980s—three resorts started chairlift service amid one of the driest starts in years.
