- ➤ According to a new Pew Research Center report, Colorado’s Latino population grew 77% over the past 25 years, rising from 736,000 in 2000 to 1.3 million — a slower pace than the national rate that nearly doubled. History professor Nicki Gonzales said the diverse Hispanic community now makes up about 20% of the state and urged local leaders to consider their growing influence in elections. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Federal officials added new THC limits for hemp products in a spending bill that ended the longest government shutdown, and the law defines hemp as having no more than .4 milligrams of THC per container. Colorado hemp businesses will face tougher rules when the limits take effect next November & may need to change how they sell products. Denver7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced on Thursday afternoon that the BSAR fee will increase from 25 cents to $1.25—an effort to boost funds for volunteer search and rescue teams. The higher fee will raise annual revenue from $500,000 to $2,500,000—helping cover rising costs for equipment, training, and operations. Denver7
- ➤ The Town of Nederland will review final documents on Tuesday for a proposed purchase of Eldora Mountain Resort for between $115 million and $120 million, with the deal expected to close before year-end. Town officials plan to finance the purchase with revenue bonds from lift tickets, rentals and food sales while some residents worry that a poor snow season could strain the town's budget. Denver7

- ➤ Denver Summit FC ownership said it is exploring potential stadium sites outside Denver—citing challenges with the city council process over plans for a 14,500-seat venue at Santa Fe Yards for a professional women’s soccer team. The team will work with city leaders to fulfill obligations and meet play requirements in March of 2028—continuing open dialogue with the mayor and council. Denver7
