Good morning, Denver. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 26th of November.
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Hotels in Colorado's mountain towns are filling up for the upcoming ski season, though occupancy is down 2.4 percent and rates average $722 versus $695 industrywide—experts say high costs and a drop in international bookings are reasons for caution until snow begins falling. Experts add that a timely snowfall will be key to driving more reservations as the season approaches. Colorado Public Radio
- ➤ Gleam Car Wash in Aurora, which offers jobs to people with autism, fought the permit approval for a new QuikTrip car wash after a strong showing at the city council meeting on Nov. 17 — local employees and officials warned that too many nearby car washes could force them out of business. A quasi-judicial appeal has been launched with a hearing set for Dec.15 to review the permit and address concerns about market saturation. Sentinel Colorado
- ➤ RealPage reached a settlement with federal prosecutors that now limits its rent-pricing software to using data at least one year old—aimed at ending secret algorithmic coordination that drives up rents. Colorado is not part of the deal and will continue to pursue its antitrust case in court. Colorado Public Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Farmers’ Almanac editors Sandi Duncan and Peter Geiger announced that the 2026 edition will be the final print issue of the 200-year-old publication that once guided local planting decisions—CSU Extension’s Todd Ballard noted that modern online data now offers more accurate forecasts. The Almanac’s website will remain available through December and local gardeners are urged to rely on current scientific sources for weather and soil updates. Colorado Public Radio
