ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Nine people were hospitalized after a carbon monoxide incident in Commerce City on Wednesday afternoon — crews from South Adams County Fire Department arrived at 12:46 p.m., evacuated the home, and transported patients to the hospital.  Denver7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local retailers have set special hours for today as Thanksgiving unfolds—some King Soopers and Safeway locations are open with limited hours while Walmart, Target, Macy’s, Kohl’s and Costco remain closed until Black Friday. Government offices, banks and standard package delivery services are closed today, with select 24-hour Walgreens operating this holiday.  Denver7
  • After leaving a hectic fintech career, Brittany Naylor opened Makeshift Crafts in Westminster in May to create a community space and now uses AI tools to manage sales data and organize workshops. A survey shows nearly 25% of small business owners use AI to save time and money — a trend expected to grow as more adopt the technology.  Denver7

  • Indie 102.3 announces the December Local 303 lineup featuring six Colorado artists including DOGTAGS, EDITH, CITRA, Ballpark!, Mystee, and Alejandra Meza with upcoming live performances and new releases highlighted. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Colorado community colleges reported a 6.3% enrollment increase this fall, reaching 94,303 students with over 9,500 new enrollees at CCA—the highest fall record and about 1,000 more than last fall. The growth came from more older students and dual-enrolled high schoolers as job-focused programs gained popularity.  Sentinel Colorado

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Rigley family in Fort Lupton uses leftover Thanksgiving pumpkins to feed chickens, ducks, cows and goats—children help break them open to add useful vitamins. They welcome donations of unpainted pumpkins and unsprayed Christmas trees to keep the practice going.  Denver7
  • Colorado Parks and Wildlife released GPS tracking maps that show collared gray wolves near the Denver metro area — including parts of southeast Boulder County and northern Jefferson County — with purple-filled watersheds indicating detections from Oct. 21 to Nov. 25. Officials said it is unknown if the wolves remain as the agency prepares for a third round of reintroductions in January.  Denver7

  • Denver's Department of Housing Stability will open cold weather shelters at 1 p.m. on Friday as forecasts predict the first snow in over 220 days—families in need can now receive motel vouchers at the Inn at the Highland with a new, easier intake process. The shelters will remain open as long as cold weather conditions persist, ensuring safe refuge before harsher conditions set in.  Denver7
  • Colorado State Senator Faith Winter died Wednesday evening in a car crash and Governor Jared Polis announced her passing and ordered flags at half-staff while Winter served Colorado's 25th District and championed environmental causes and women's representation—her loss is deeply felt across local leadership.  Denver7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Colorado counties, schools and lawmakers are working to boost e-bike safety as federal rules stall and parents worry over a rise in injuries. Retailers and education officials report that kids and teens are riding more this fall—raising concerns over hazards—and some local laws now require battery safety tests.  Colorado Public Radio

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • At Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary in Erie, families can donate $25 to receive a certificate, photo, and visit options—helping care for turkeys during Thanksgiving instead of eating them. The program has doubled its sponsorships each year and funds extended outdoor pastures and veterinary care for rescued birds from factory farms.  Colorado Public Radio

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, Copper Mountain hosts the Stifel Copper Cup as part of the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season, with local athletes and international skiers set to compete for Olympic qualification.
