COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On December 9, nearly 4,900 nonprofits participated in Colorado Gives Day to raise funds for local programs, and donors contributing $100 entered a draw for Southwest tickets. Nonprofits also competed during power hours to win cash prizes.  Denver7
  • Aurora’s Stanley Beer Hall hosted the Santa Paws event last Sunday, giving dogs a festive photo session with Santa and a dog buffet from Bonez-4-Budz (offering pumpkin sticks and beef lung) to promote pet adoption. Organized by two local shelters, the event raised awareness for dog rescue.  Denver7

  • Vail Resorts announced Tuesday that customers booking single-day lift tickets at least a month ahead can save over $100 at Colorado resorts including Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Crested Butte.  Denver7

CULTURE NEWS

  • CPR Classical presents the Holiday Brass concert on Tuesday, Dec. 16 with tuba-playing host Kabin Thomas — who will lead festive renditions of Christmas carols and seasonal favorites with tickets starting at $57.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Indie 102.3 has shared its hosts’ Top 10 picks for the best tracks of 2025 (inviting listeners to vote in the annual Top 102.3 Songs of the Year countdown) and the event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve with an encore airing on New Year's Day.  Colorado Public Radio
  • CPR Classical crowned Carol of the Bells as the 2025 Carol Countdown winner after it edged out O Holy Night with 54.6 percent of the vote; fans could hear the winning carol starting Dec. 9 at 7 a.m. on 88.1 FM in Denver.  Colorado Public Radio
  • History Colorado is collecting 150 stories from everyday Coloradans for its 'A Portrait of Colorado at 150' project as part of the state's birthday celebration. The museum will visit all 64 counties and offer free resources (recorders, photo scanners, and an online toolkit) for sharing oral histories.  Denver7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Colorado families can apply online for free preschool starting Dec. 9 at noon for the 2026-27 school year. The program offers 15 or 30 hours per week for eligible 4-year-olds and some 3-year-olds and includes a phone helpline available in over 100 languages.  Sentinel Colorado

SPORTS NEWS

  • The World Cup ski races at Beaver Creek have wrapped up after a thrilling weekend on the Birds of Prey course, where local racer River Radamus and international star Marco Odermatt competed on a 700-meter vertical drop amid snowfall and unique moments (including a bald eagle display).  Colorado Public Radio
